Excluded Ingredients
All entries must be:
* free from any essential oils or absolutes;
* free from ingredients which act as a fragrance / masking fragrance;
* free from ‘parfum / aroma‘ — i.e. ingredients which provide perfume or aroma or flavour to a product, or which are added to mask any undesirable odours;
* free from declarable fragrance allergens — including the preservative benzyl alcohol;
* free from any hydrosols / distillates derived from botanicals which typically yield essential oils e.g. rose water.
Entries must also be free from any ingredient banned from cosmetic use in the UK / EU.
Permitted Ingredients
All other ingredients approved for use in cosmetics are permitted.
For the avoidance of doubt, carrier oils and non-aromatic distillates / hydrosols are permitted, as are other botanical extracts.
Please contact us if you have any query about ingredients.
Availability
All products entered into the Fragrance Free Awards must be available on the market by the closing dates of the Awards.
Products need not necessarily be available worldwide or beyond their country of origin, but note that six samples of each entry will be required to be sent to the UK for participation. (All postage, shipping and customs fees must be paid by the entrant.)
Miscellaneous
Products do not need to be new launches — they can be new or established.
For the avoidance of doubt, we do not necessarily expect entries to be ‘odour / smell free’ or unscented.
N.B. A “fragrance free” statement or claim on labels or packaging is neither required for entry nor sufficient for acceptance into the Awards.
