Q. What are the benefits of entering the Fragrance Free Awards?
A. The key benefit is detailed feedback from our Testers & Judges, which is made available to all entrants at the end of the Awards process. We also welcome all entrants throughout our social media channels, introducing them to our followers, and giving them wide publicity. All Entrants are given an ‘ENTRANT‘ logo which they can use to denote their participation in the Awards.
Q. What are the benefits of winning the Fragrance Free Awards?
A. Individual medal logos will be sent to brands of winning products. All winners will be announced on social media, further boosting brand profiles. We help winning brands with publicity, for instance, with press releases, and send out our own press releases about our Awards to a substantial list of press contacts. Testers and judges regularly become new customers of products they test and judge, and share recommendations with family, friends, readers etc. All eventual medal winners in all categories are featured here on our website, with extracts of tester reviews, and links to points of sale / brand websites — and these remain online indefinitely.
Q. What does “fragrance free” mean?
A. A product is fragrance free if no ingredient has been added to it to impart scent or aroma, although that does not necessarily mean a product will be odourless, as natural plant butters such as coconut or shea butter have their own distinctive smell. As this definition is insufficient to ensure all fragrance allergens are absent (benzyl alcohol may be used as a preservative, for example), we specify that all products entered into the Fragrance Free Awards must be free from essential oils, parfum, fragrance allergens — and also distillates from botanicals which yield essential oils. Q. Can ‘Unscented’ products be entered?
A. Yes, provided they are also fragrance free — i.e. that no masking fragrances have been added to neutralise the smell of other ingredients in the formulation — and that they meet our criteria above.
Q. Can I enter the Fragrance Free Awards with products I’ve previously entered into the Free From Skincare Awards?
A. Of course! This is a completely new Award, and all products — whether new or old, award-winning or not — may be submitted.
